Dr Rachelle Martin

Rachelle Martin is an experienced academic and rehabilitation researcher with a background in physiotherapy and over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of disability and health, including employment. Her work is grounded in equity, the social model of disability, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a strong emphasis on co-design and evidence-informed practice.

Rachelle has led and contributed to cross-sector projects involving disabled people, including tāngata whaikaha Māori, whānau, and providers, with particular expertise in implementing inclusive engagement processes. Her governance and advisory experience enhances her understanding of the operational and ethical aspects of disability systems in Aotearoa New Zealand. She brings critical thinking, adaptive leadership, and a collaborative mindset to all aspects of design and systems change.

Rachelle is committed to developing person-directed, future-focused solutions, including creating more enabling societies that foster flourishing lives for disabled people and their whānau.
